Getting There

Lillehammer is about 180 kilometres north of Oslo and well connected by rail. The Dovre Line from Oslo S (Oslo Central Station) runs through Lillehammer; direct trains take around two and a half hours, with departures roughly every two hours throughout the day. Regional trains and slower services stop at Lillehammer station in the town centre, which is a short walk from Storgata and the waterfront.

By car, the E6 motorway runs directly from Oslo to Lillehammer (about 2 hours in normal traffic). The drive continues north through the Gudbrandsdal valley, making Lillehammer a natural stopping point on the road to Trondheim or the mountain resorts of Jotunheimen and Rondane.

There is no airport at Lillehammer; the nearest is Gardermoen (Oslo Airport), 160 kilometres south. Bus services from Gardermoen run several times daily and take about 2 hours. The train from Oslo S (near Gardermoen) is generally the most convenient option.
