By ferry is the most dramatic approach. The Bodø–Moskenes ferry crosses the open sea in three to four hours and arrives directly in Moskenes village. In summer, book well in advance — car spaces sell out. Foot passengers have more flexibility. Torghatten Nord runs the route.
By bus and ferry via the northern Lofoten gateway: fly to Svolvær (Harstad/Narvik Airport Evenes is the closest mainline airport, with bus connections), then travel the E10 highway south through the archipelago. The drive from Svolvær to Å takes about three hours, passing through Ballstad, Ramberg, and the other Lofoten municipalities.
By car and ferry from Bodø (four-hour ferry) or from the north via the E10. The E10 terminates at the car park in Å — the road literally ends there, which is part of the point.
There is no bridge connecting Moskenes Island to the rest of Lofoten — the Nappstraumen channel separates it — so a ferry crossing is unavoidable from the south.
