Getting There

Svolvær is the most accessible town in Lofoten, with more options than anywhere else in the archipelago.

By air: Svolvær Airport (IATA: SVJ) has direct flights to Oslo (around 1h40m) with Widerøe and occasionally SAS. Harstad/Narvik Airport (Evenes) further north has more connections and is reachable in around 2.5 hours by bus or rental car via the Lofoten connections.

By sea: The Hurtigruten coastal steamer calls at Svolvær northbound and southbound year-round, making it a classic arrival or departure point on the coastal voyage. Express ferries connect Svolvær to Bodø (around 3.5 hours) and Skutvik (2 hours), both with car capacity.

By road: The E10 highway connects Svolvær to Å at the southern tip of Lofoten and continues northeast to the mainland via Narvik. From Oslo by road is around 20 hours. From Narvik the drive to Svolvær takes about 3–4 hours.
