Risobank is a distinctive summer residence built in 1901 for Lord Edward T. Salvesen, a Scotsman with strong Norwegian connections. The house stands in a protected recreation area west of Mandal, among trails, beaches, and pines.
You do not come only for the building. Risobank works because the house, garden, old tennis court, sea views, and Furulunden paths all sit together. It is a pleasant, slightly unexpected stop on a walk out from Sjosanden.
