The ruins of St. Mary's Church sit in Old Oslo, close to the medieval core of the city. The church once had unusual political weight: its provost also served as Chancellor of Norway from the early 14th century.
Only ruins remain, but they help make sense of Oslo before the modern capital shifted westward. Stop here while walking the medieval sites around Gamlebyen and the waterfront.
