Oslo's sights split between the compact centre (Royal Palace, City Hall, National Museum, Opera House) and the Bygdøy peninsula across the fjord, where four of the city's best museums cluster — the Kon-Tiki, the Viking Ship Museum (closed for renovation, reopening 2027 as the Museum of the Viking Age), the Norwegian Folk Museum, and the Fram polar-ship museum. The Vigeland Park in Frogner is a must — Gustav Vigeland's sculpture park of 200-plus bronze and granite figures, on a scale that has to be seen to be believed.
