Stavanger has a lively bar scene by Norwegian standards, fuelled by oil-industry money and a large international workforce. Øvre Holmegate — the "Colour Street" with its brightly painted facades — is the liveliest strip, with a concentration of bars and cafes within a few hundred metres of each other. The harbour area around Skagenkaien has a more relaxed waterfront atmosphere. Prices are high even by Norwegian standards, but the quality of coffee and craft beer has risen sharply in recent years.
