Norway's national cathedral and the northernmost medieval cathedral in the world, built over the grave of Saint Olav — the Viking king whose death in 1030 made him a martyr. The Gothic west front, with its tiers of carved figures, is one of the finest pieces of medieval stonework in Scandinavia. Norway's monarchs are still consecrated here. Allow at least an hour; the interior is as impressive as the façade.
