Tyholt Tower

Trondheim’s telecom tower viewpoint, with a revolving restaurant and wide views over the city and fjord.

Tyholt Tower is a telecommunications tower east of central Trondheim, best known to visitors for its high-level viewpoint and revolving restaurant. It is not as atmospheric as Bakklandet or as important as Nidaros Cathedral, but it gives a clean, elevated read on the city, the fjord, and the surrounding hills.

Go when the weather is clear; otherwise the trip loses most of its point. The restaurant is the slow version of the visit, but even a short stop helps you understand Trondheim's shape, with the river loop, harbour, and residential slopes laid out below.
