A long pale-yellow façade with a green copper roof, a forecourt of paired pavilions, and a perfectly axial baroque garden behind — Branicki Palace dominates the southern edge of central Białystok and is the city's defining sight. The palace itself houses the Medical University of Białystok, so you can only see a few representative rooms; the real attraction is the gardens, which are free, open daily, and one of the best places in the city for a slow walk.
Look for the upper terrace with its statues, the sculpted parterres, and the large pond at the far end. The vegetable garden — the Ogród Włoski — is laid out as it was in the 18th century and still produces. A small chapel and pavilion sit at the corners. Allow an hour or two.
