The Tri-City — Gdańsk, Sopot, and Gdynia — runs as one transport network connected by the SKM commuter rail line that runs every few minutes from early morning until late evening. The journey end to end takes about 50 minutes; Gdynia central station is on Świętojańska, a five-minute walk from the pier.
Within Gdynia: city buses and trolleybuses (Gdynia is one of only three Polish cities with trolleybuses still operating — most of the central routes use them). Tickets are bought at machines on the platforms or in the vehicle. The waterfront and the centre are easily walkable; Kępa Redłowska and Orłowo are quicker by SKM than by bus.
Cars are useful for the day trips into Kashubia or to Hel Peninsula but otherwise a nuisance in the centre.
