Jelenia Góra has a reasonable selection of restaurants for a city its size, concentrated around the market square. Polish staples — żurek (sour rye soup), pierogi, bigos, and grilled meats — are the mainstays. Several cafes under the arcades on the Rynek are good for coffee and cake.
For more substantial meals, look for restaurants serving Lower Silesian cooking, which draws on both Polish and German traditions: roast pork with red cabbage, potato dumplings, and local smoked meats. Prices are low by Western European standards.
