The International Congress Centre (ICC) opened in 2015 immediately adjacent to the Spodek arena, and the two buildings together form the most dramatic architectural ensemble in the city. Where the Spodek is round and retro-futurist, the ICC is angular and aggressive — a faceted dark-glass structure that has been compared to a stealth aircraft. It was designed by Medusa Group and can host up to 15,000 people across its various conference halls and event spaces.
The ICC hosts major events including international conferences, trade fairs, and concerts. It has become symbolic of Katowice's ambition to reposition itself as a European business and cultural hub, and it hosted the COP24 climate conference in 2018. Even if you are not attending an event, the building's exterior is worth seeing — best viewed together with the Spodek from the open plaza between them.
