Jaworzyna Krynicka

Jaworzyna Krynicka (1,114 metres) is the highest peak in the Beskid Sądecki range and the focal point of outdoor activity around Krynica both in winter and summer. A gondola lift runs from the town centre to near the summit, making the mountain accessible to all. In winter the slopes offer skiing and snowboarding, with runs of varying difficulty and a ski school; cross-country skiing and snowshoe trails extend through the surrounding forests.

In summer the gondola still operates, and the summit area is the starting point for hiking trails into the Beskid Sądecki. The ridge walking is among the better mountain hiking available in the Polish Carpathians — views extend south into Slovakia and on clear days the High Tatra peaks are visible on the horizon. The surrounding forests are also good for mushroom foraging in autumn, which is taken seriously by the locals.
