Szczecin's bar scene centres on two areas: the riverfront below the Wały Chrobrego, where repurposed industrial buildings house bars with outdoor terraces in summer, and the streets around the university in the western part of the city centre, which have the standard student bar energy — cheap beer, late hours, good company.
The craft beer revolution has reached Szczecin. Several breweries have opened in the city in recent years, and bars specialising in local and national Polish craft beer are easy to find. German-influenced lager remains popular too, a nod to the city's history. Wine bars are less common but growing.
Coffee culture in Szczecin is serious — the third-wave coffee shop has made its mark here, with several good independent cafes in the old town and near the university. The Wały Chrobrego area has become a particularly good stretch for an afternoon coffee or an evening drink with river views.
