Getting There

Szczecin-Goleniów Airport (SZZ) is about 45 km north of the city, connected by bus and taxi. It has limited direct international connections — mainly to London, Dublin, and a handful of other European cities — but you can reach it via Frankfurt, Warsaw, or another hub.

The better option for many travellers is the excellent rail and bus connections with Germany. Berlin is only 2.5 hours by train and there are multiple daily services. This makes Szczecin a natural add-on to a Berlin trip — or vice versa. The city is also connected by rail to Gdańsk, Kraków, and Warsaw within Poland.

From Sweden, a ferry from Ystad arrives at the port of Świnoujście, about 100 km northwest of Szczecin, from which there are train connections to the city. This is the classic approach from Scandinavia and one of the more scenic ways to arrive — the ferry crossing of the Baltic is in itself worth doing.
