A vast 14th-century Gothic brick church a block north-west of the Rynek, distinguished by its 91-metre west tower — for several decades the tallest church spire in Europe. The tower is climbable (300+ steps) and gives the best panoramic view over the old town, the Odra and the cathedral island.
Inside the church is austere and bright, with whitewashed walls and tall pointed-arch windows. The interior was extensively rebuilt after a 1976 fire collapsed the roof; some original Gothic and Renaissance epitaphs and tomb slabs survive in the side aisles.
