St Mary Magdalene Church

Address Szewska 10, 50-053 Wrocław

A 14th-century Gothic church east of the Rynek, the second of Wrocław's great medieval parish churches. The west façade is dominated by twin brick towers connected at the top by the Bridge of the Penitents, a narrow elevated walkway that can be reached by climbing 247 steps and walked across for one of the more dramatic small viewpoints in the city.

The church became Lutheran during the Reformation and is now Polish Catholic again. Inside, the Romanesque-Gothic portal on the south wall, salvaged from a destroyed nearby abbey, is the standout feature.
