The Marechal Carmona Park is Cascais's central green space, a generous landscaped park immediately behind the Palácio dos Condes de Castro Guimarães. Old palm trees, dragon trees, plane trees, and rose gardens are organised around winding paths, with a duck pond, a children's playground, and a small petting zoo with peacocks, rabbits, and donkeys.
There is a café in a small pavilion, a regular weekend organic market in one corner of the grounds, and free wifi throughout. Locals come here to read, jog, or eat lunch on the lawn; on a hot afternoon it is much cooler than the seafront.
