Trains from Lisbon and Porto stop at Coimbra B, a few kilometres from the centre. A free shuttle connects to Coimbra A, the central station right in town. The journey from Lisbon takes about two hours, from Porto about an hour.
The bus station is a fifteen-minute walk north of Coimbra A along Avenida Fernão de Magalhães, with services to most Portuguese cities.
