Évora is 130km east of Lisbon by road. The drive on the A6 motorway takes about 90 minutes and passes through the beginning of the Alentejo's characteristic cork oak plains; it's a pleasant road once you clear the Lisbon suburbs.
By bus, Rede Expressos runs regular services from Lisbon's Sete Rios terminal; the journey takes about 1 hour 45 minutes and the company's newer coaches are comfortable. There are also services from Porto (around 5 hours), Faro, and other Portuguese cities.
By train, the nearest main-line station is Évora station, served by direct trains from Lisbon's Oriente station. The journey takes about 1 hour 40 minutes. From Évora station, the old town is about 1km uphill — easily walkable or a short taxi ride.
Évora has no airport. The nearest airports are Lisbon (Humberto Delgado Airport) and Beja, which has limited charter flights. Most visitors arrive from Lisbon.
