The Great Dolmen of Zambujeiro is one of the Évora region's major prehistoric monuments, a large megalithic burial chamber set in open Alentejo countryside. It lacks the easy drama of the city's Roman temple, but its age and scale are striking.
Access can be rough and conditions change, so check locally before going and do not expect polished visitor facilities. It makes most sense as part of a megalithic circuit with Almendres rather than as a single-purpose taxi ride.
