Saint Francis Church

Saint Francis Church is one of Evora's major late-Gothic monuments, built between the end of the 15th century and the early 16th century with Manueline details. Its broad nave and side chapels give it a more expansive feel than many Portuguese churches of the period.

Most visitors come because the Chapel of Bones is attached to the church, but the main building deserves time too. The mix of Gothic structure, Manueline ornament, and later Baroque chapels makes it one of the strongest stops in Evora's compact historic centre.
