Praia da Nazare is the town's everyday beach, a broad sweep of sand directly below the white houses, funicular, and cliff of Sitio. It is where Nazare feels most like a working Atlantic resort: fishing traditions, striped beach tents, seafood restaurants, and families spilling onto the promenade.
Do not confuse it with Praia do Norte, the big-wave beach on the other side of the headland. This one is better for strolling, swimming in calmer conditions, and watching the town move around the sea. The surf can still be strong, so pay attention to flags and local advice.
