Just inside the Porta da Vila on Rua Direita, this counter pours the local sour cherry liqueur into edible chocolate cups for €1 — drink the shot, eat the cup. The recipe uses ginja cherries macerated in aguardente with sugar and a stick of cinnamon, kept for at least three months.
Several rival counters along the street offer the same thing. Drink one at the start of your visit, another at the end — never two at the same place, which is considered greedy.
