Portimão Marina

The Marina de Portimão sits across the river-mouth from Praia da Rocha, at the foot of the cliffs below the Fort of Santa Catarina. It is one of the largest marinas in the Algarve, with 620 berths, and the main hub for boat trips: dolphin-watching tours, cave-and-coastline excursions to the Benagil grotto, sunset cruises, and full-day catamaran sails.

A small commercial zone of restaurants, bars, and the Casino de Portimão runs around the marina basin. A lift descends from the clifftop near the Fort, and a pedestrian bridge connects to the centre of Portimão town. The trips to the Benagil caves leave from here every morning in season.
