Redonda Beach

Redonda Beach is the small, sheltered crescent of sand at the south end of the Passeio Alegre seafront, between the casino and the seaport. The shape gives it the name — redonda means round — and the curve of the breakwaters makes it the calmest of the town beaches, well-suited to families with small children.

The historic Café Guardasol on the boardwalk above is the local home of the francesinha poveira. The Diana Bar municipal beach library opens in summer with books to borrow on the sand.
