The port wine lodges are the main draw, and rightly so. Beyond them, the hilltop gardens and views back to Porto are worth the climb, and the old convent on the upper hill is an impressive Baroque building largely ignored by tourists. The waterfront itself is pleasant for walking regardless of what else you do.
