The House with Locked Log is one of Arad's older secular buildings, built in 1815 for a Viennese merchant. Its name comes from a brass-coated log inspired by Vienna's Stock im Eisen, once used by travelling journeymen to leave guild marks. The original log has been moved to protect it, but the building remains a worthwhile architectural detail on a central Arad walk.
