Buzău County Museum

The Buzău County Museum — officially the Museum of Archaeology, History and Art — sits at the entrance to Crâng Park in a handsome neo-Romanian building put up between 1931 and 1937, originally a girls' high school. The museum covers local history from prehistoric times through to the modern era, with a respectable archaeology collection drawn from excavations in the region. There are Dacian and Roman-era finds, medieval artefacts, and some natural history exhibits that give context to the area's distinctive geology.

The museum is worth an hour if you have time between the park and your onward journey. The neo-Romanian architecture of the building itself — with its characteristic arched galleries and tile-roofed turrets — is one of the better examples of the style in this part of the country. Combined tickets covering the main building and the Vergu-Mănăilă Ethnography House are available at the door.
