The main reason to come to Buzău is the mud volcanoes outside town — a genuinely strange geological spectacle that rewards the detour. In the city itself, the Crâng park is pleasant, and the Vergu-Mănăilă House gives a glimpse of 18th-century Wallachian life. The Ascension Cathedral is worth a look for its scale, completed in 2009.
