Samsara Foodhouse is the city's most enduring vegetarian restaurant, in a handsome restored old house just off Piața Unirii. The menu is generous: Indian curries, Middle Eastern mezze, vegan burgers, and Romanian dishes recast without meat.
The rooms are warmly lit and informal, with cushions and low tables in a small upstairs section. Cluj has more vegetarian restaurants than most Romanian cities and Samsara was the one that started it. Worth a visit even for committed carnivores.
