St. Nicholas Church is one of Hunedoara's older religious buildings, founded under Matthias Corvinus in the 15th century. Its carved wooden iconostasis is especially important, with icons that are among the oldest in Romania.
The church is a worthwhile stop for visitors already in Hunedoara for Corvin Castle, especially for anyone interested in Orthodox art and late medieval Transylvanian history.
