Getting There

Oradea is one of the easiest entry points into Romania from Western Europe. The Hungarian border at BorČ™ is fifteen kilometres west and the motorway crossing is open around the clock; long-distance buses from Budapest, Vienna and beyond run several times a day.

By train, Oradea sits on the line from Budapest to Cluj-Napoca and Bucharest. The journey from Budapest takes around four hours; from Cluj, three; from Bucharest, twelve to fifteen. The station is a fifteen-minute walk from the centre or a short tram ride.

Oradea International Airport (OMR), eight kilometres southwest of the centre, is small but functional. There are daily flights to Bucharest and seasonal connections to a handful of European cities. For a wider choice of destinations, many travellers use Debrecen Airport in Hungary, about an hour and a half away by road, or Cluj-Napoca two and a half hours east.
