Late spring and early autumn (April–June, September) are the best months — the Princely Court is at its prettiest in May when the lawns are green, and September days are dry and warm. Summers can be hot and dusty, with afternoon thunderstorms; winters are cold, foggy, and grey, and outdoor sites lose much of their appeal.
If you can time it to coincide, the annual Dracula festival in October draws fans of the historical Vlad and his fictional namesake; smaller religious festivals at Dealu Monastery happen on saints' days throughout the year.
