The Mother Patroness Monument stands on the Cheboksary embankment, a large bronze figure of a woman with arms raised and a traditional Chuvash headdress. Unveiled in 2003, it draws on the indigenous religious tradition of the Chuvash people rather than on the Soviet "motherland" iconography common elsewhere in Russia.
The figure stands about 10 metres tall on its plinth and is visible from the bay and from the bridge. It has become one of the symbols of Cheboksary and is a popular photography spot, particularly in the evening when the surrounding lights and the Volga backdrop make for a dramatic composition. The monument sits on the embankment walkway and is accessible at all hours.
