Kaliningrad's city centre is manageable on foot, though the sights are spread across a fairly large area. The cathedral island, Amber Museum, and zoo are all within 30 minutes' walk of each other. The Bunker Museum and Regional Museum are in the central district.
For the outlying forts — including Fort No. 5 — a taxi is the most practical option. The city has a reasonable network of buses and trams, but routes can be confusing for visitors. Taxis (including Yandex taxi) are inexpensive and widely available. A car is useful for exploring the Sambia Peninsula, the beach resorts, and the more remote forts.
