Getting There

Kaliningrad has its own airport, Khrabrovo (KGD), with flights to Moscow, St Petersburg, and other Russian cities. International flights are limited and subject to the wider restrictions on travel to Russia. The airport is about 25 kilometres north of the city centre.

By train or bus from Moscow or St Petersburg, the journey requires either transiting through Lithuania and Belarus or a ferry connection from Russian Baltic ports. The overland route through Lithuania requires a special transit permit for Russian citizens; foreigners with valid Schengen visas can transit. The ferry from Baltiysk connects to St Petersburg. Check current travel requirements carefully — the exclave's access has been subject to restrictions and changes, particularly since 2022.
