Tver is on the main rail line between Moscow and St Petersburg, which makes it one of the easiest Russian regional cities to reach without a car. Fast trains from Moscow usually take around two hours; slower suburban services are cheaper but much less comfortable.
The main railway station is south of the centre. Taxis and local buses connect it with the Volga-side historic core, or you can walk in about 35-45 minutes if the weather is good.
