Tver is strongest around the Volga and the old imperial centre. Start at the Imperial Travel Palace and City Garden, cross or admire the Old Volga Bridge, then follow the embankment to the Afanasy Nikitin Monument and the river terminal.
The city rewards slow wandering more than checklist tourism. Its museums are small, its streets still carry Soviet and post-Soviet layers, and the riverfront gives the whole place a broadness that many Russian provincial cities lack.
