Museum of Vojvodina

The Museum of Vojvodina is the best place to understand the multi-ethnic history of the Pannonian Plain. Two buildings side by side on Dunavska — one for archaeology and ancient history, the other for the period from the 18th century to the present. The collections cover Celts, Romans, Avars, Magyars, Habsburgs, Serbs, the Yugoslav era and the 1990s wars.

The highlight is the set of three Roman gilded-silver helmets and ceremonial parade armour discovered nearby in the 18th century. The 20th-century ethnographic rooms — peasant costumes from across Vojvodina's many minorities — are also worth time. Bilingual labels in Serbian and English.
