Jahodná

Forested recreation area and small ski slope in the hills northwest of Kosice

Jahodna is a forested recreation area in the hills northwest of Kosice, used for skiing in winter and hiking or cycling when the snow has gone. It is not an alpine resort, but that is exactly the point: it is a local, low-key way to get out of the city and into the Slovak countryside without a major expedition.

In winter the slopes are suitable for casual skiers and families rather than advanced riders. At other times of year the area works as a trailhead into the Volovske Hills, with fresh air, wooded paths and views back toward the basin around Kosice. Go for the change of scene, not for resort polish.
