The Lower Gate Archaeological Museum preserves part of Kosice's medieval fortifications below the main street. The reconstructed underground space shows the remains of the 13th-century lower gate and the defensive works that once controlled entry to the town.
It is a short visit, but a useful one: after seeing the cathedral and Hlavna ulica above ground, the museum makes the old city walls feel less abstract.
