Krahule is the main ski area serving Kremnica, just a few kilometers to the north on the slopes of the Kremnica Mountains. It is a modest resort — a handful of lifts serving runs of varying difficulty — but well suited for families, beginners, and those who want uncrowded slopes without the queues and prices of the larger Slovak resorts.
In summer the same area works for hiking and cycling. Trails lead through the beech and spruce forests of the Kremnica Mountains, which are relatively quiet compared to the High Tatras and offer good views of the central Slovak highlands without the crowds. The village of Krahule itself is a curious remnant of the area's German-speaking mining community, which was expelled after World War II.
