Kremnica Calvary

Baroque hilltop pilgrimage complex with chapels and broad views over Kremnica.

Kremnica's Calvary climbs the slope above town in a chain of small chapels leading toward a hilltop church. Like many Central European calvaries, it was designed as a devotional route, but travelers do not need to be religious to appreciate the way it frames the town, the mining hills, and the old minting city below.

The walk is short but steep enough to feel like a small excursion. It works especially well after seeing the castle complex and main square, because the view from the upper stations pulls Kremnica's compact medieval core into one picture.
