The Marinid Walls are the remains of fortifications built by the Moroccan Marinid dynasty in the 14th century, during their occupation of Algeciras. The walls are among the most significant surviving remnants of Moorish military architecture in southern Andalusia, and the archaeological park around them provides context for understanding Algeciras's medieval history as a repeatedly contested crossing point between Europe and Africa.
The site includes not just the walls themselves but the remains of towers, gates, and associated structures. Free to visit; an interpretive centre explains the Marinid period and the broader history of Islamic Algeciras. Located in the upper part of the old town, within walking distance of Plaza Alta.
