Álora is on the Málaga-Bobadilla railway line, with several trains a day from Málaga María Zambrano station. The journey takes about 45 minutes. The station is in the valley floor, not in the village — there is a steep climb to the old centre, which takes 20 to 30 minutes on foot with luggage. A taxi is the sensible option if you have bags; ask your accommodation to arrange one if possible, as taxis here are not always easy to flag down.
By car, Álora is about 36 kilometres northwest of Málaga on the A-357 and MA-444. There is parking in the lower part of the village; the old streets above are too narrow for most cars.
