Getting There

Doñana has two main access points, and they serve different experiences. For the northern entrance — El Acebuche visitor centre, the La Rocina hides, El Rocío, and guided 4x4 tours into the park core — approach from Matalascañas in Huelva Province. The A-49 motorway from Seville connects to the A-483 south through El Rocío, and the drive from Seville takes around 90 minutes. If you are coming from Huelva city the A-494 coastal road gets you there in under an hour.

For the southern entrance and the river boat tours, head to Sanlúcar de Barrameda in Cádiz Province, where the Guadalquivir meets the Atlantic. Sanlúcar is 45 minutes from Jerez de la Frontera (which has a small airport) and around an hour from Cádiz. The nearest major airports are Seville (SVQ), roughly 80km from Matalascañas, and Faro in Portugal (FAO), about 130km from the park's western edge — both are well connected with international flights. There is no public transport directly into the park interior, and no easy way to get between the northern and southern access points without a car, so a rental is strongly recommended.
