Fuengirola's seven kilometres of beach is the main reason people come. The sand is wide and golden, the water warm and generally calm, and the beach is serviced with chiringuitos, sunbed rentals, showers, and volleyball nets. It gets very crowded in July and August; the eastern end near Los Boliches tends to be slightly less packed than the central stretch opposite the town.
The water is safe for swimming throughout the season (May to October) and the beach holds a Blue Flag designation. Sunset from the beach looking toward the Sohail Castle headland is the best free view in town.
