The most beautiful beach in the Nerja area — a sheltered cove of clean grey-blue water at the foot of cliffs covered in pine and prickly pear, just below the village of Maro. The beach sits inside the Maro-Cerro Gordo nature reserve and is fronted by the protected cliffs that run east towards Granada province.
There are no roads down: park at Maro and walk down a steep, rocky path, or take a kayak tour from Burriana — the cliff coast east of Maro contains a series of small waterfalls (the Cascada de Maro tumbles directly into the sea) and sea caves that are only accessible by water. Limited facilities; bring water.
